This original print by Japanese artist Joichi Hoshi (1913-1979) is a woodcut of a blue tree, from one of his Tree series, circa 1974. This piece is framed and hand signed by the artist in pencil on the lower right margin. There is more hand written in Japanese on the lower left.

This print is from the Sōsaku-hanga or creative prints movement when artists had to participate in every aspect of production. This was a revolutionary art movement that emerged in 20th century Japan post WWII.

Image size: 7 1/4” x 4 3/4” Framed size: 14 3/4” x 9” Condition: Both the frame and woodcut appear to be in very good condition. The paper covering on the back is torn, but this is not visible from the front. The print has not been examined out of the frame.
